Listed in 2001 as one of the most livable small cities, it sits above the Mississippi River. It is the oldest city on the river. Beside small town charm Natchez also has casinos. (Mississippi passed a law in 2005 to allow casinos on land.) Natchez is astride the Natchez Trace Parkway, a 444 mile long scenic byway running through three states from Natchez to Nashville.
